The Department of Digitization Services is happy to announce Luna, the new web platform for DePaul University Library’s Instructional Image Collection. Luna replaces Mimsy, offering access to over 60,000 images in the DePaul Instructional Image Collection as well as access to more than 30 digital image collections via Luna Commons. Luna will enhance the experience using these wide-ranging collections, which include The Willard Straight collection of photographs and ephemeral materials from the Russo-Japanese War, thousands of images from the National Palace in Taipei, the John Carter Brown Book Collection with full-text primary sources from 15th-19th centuries, the David Rumsey Historical Map Collection, and the Pratt Institute’s Fashion Plate Collection.
The Luna platform offers a new range of capabilities. Faculty and students will now be able to:
- use wide ranging search options across all data fields
- zoom in or out of images
- sort and save images within media groups for private or shared use
- search within Flickr and upload images to media groups
- create, share and save presentations
- export seamlessly to PowerPoint
- embed items within D2L
