Richardson Library\u2019s <a title=\"Information Commons\" href=\"http:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/about\/locations\/lincoln-park\/Pages\/information-commons.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Information Commons<\/a> celebrated its grand opening on September 24, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Over 300 visitors, including Provost Don Pope-Davis, were treated to tours of the new facility, Banned Books Week button-making, and demonstrations of productivity apps and media:scape tables.\u00a0 In the <a title=\"Scholar's Lab\" href=\"http:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/services\/Pages\/Scholars-Lab.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Scholar\u2019s Lab<\/a>, Professors Sungsoon Julie Hwang, Roshanna Sylvester, Paul Jaskot, and John Shanahan presented their innovative digital humanities projects.\u00a0 The University Center for Writing-based Learning and the Career Center discussed their peer consulting services in the <a title=\"Learning Commons\" href=\"http:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/get-help\/Pages\/learning-commons.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Learning Commons<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"insertImg size1of2\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Scott Walter University Librarian, Rev. John T. Richardson, C.M. Chancellor, Gina Heise, Richard Heise, Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M. President\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/library.depaul.edu\/about\/library-news\/library-news-for-faculty\/PublishingImages\/info.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Scott Walter University Librarian, Rev. Holtschneider, C.M. addressed the attendees and attested to the transformation of the library into a learning space for the future.\u00a0 Richard Heise, (COM \u201957, DHL \u201995), former chair of DePaul\u2019s Board of Trustees, and DePaul University Chancellor John T. Richardson, C.M., spoke about the history of the library.\u00a0 Following the remarks, an iPad mini and autographed <a title=\"READ Posters\" href=\"http:\/\/news.library.depaul.edu\/news\/post\/2013\/09\/READ--DePaul-University-Library.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">READ<\/a> posters of Oliver Purnell, Head Coach of DePaul Men&#8217;s Basketball, and Doug Bruno, Head Coach of DePaul Women&#8217;s Basketball, were raffled off by University Librarian Scott Walter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although students had been gathering at and using it since the beginning of the quarter, the John T.
