The Metropolitan Museum of Art recently announced a video project called 82nd & Fifth, in which 100 curators talk about 100 works of art at the museum. Each curator was asked to choose a work of art that changed the way he or she sees the world and given two minutes to explain why.
Listening to a curator discuss an object in a conversational way, describing why they like it and why it’s important to them, brings a new level of appreciation to these works. Moreover, high-quality video and photographs, including close-ups, offer views of works of art often difficult to achieve in person.
The project began in January, 2013, with new videos added every Wednesday. Visitors can also sign up for e-mail notification when new videos are uploaded to the site.
