Game On @ The Richardson Library

Game Console Controllers
The DePaul University Library is happy to announce that video game consoles and video games are now available in the John T. Richardson Library.  We have purchased 5 new consoles that can be checked out by any current DePaul student, staff, or faculty member and video games are now available from the John T. Richardson Library.  There is no cost to checkout either the consoles, or video games, and consoles can now be checked out for two weeks at a time.  In 2013 we began loaning consoles from the Loop Library to further support students in the College of Computing and Digital Media computer game development programs but also to offer access to video games and consoles to students from all programs.  The game consoles were popular with students and we wanted to expand this program to offer consoles in our Lincoln Park location.  By offering game consoles, students are able to experiment and try a platform and game without having to purchase an entire system for this purpose. The expansion of this program was recently featured in the DePaulia.

Video GamesBoth the game consoles and video games are held behind the Access Services Desk in the John T. Richardson Library, but there is an area located across from the Genius Squad desk near the Scholar’s Lab where users can browse available games.  Student can browse the available titles and bring a game case up to the Access Services desk to check out the video game.  A listing of all of our consoles is available at the Access Services desk at both campuses.  Video games and consoles are also available in our Loop Library and a full list of our growing video game collection can be found in WorldCat Local.
