University Librarian, Scott Walter, has recently been selected to join the 2016 cohort of Senior Fellows at the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. Since 1982, the Senior Fellows Program has provided a unique professional development opportunity for academic library leaders, distinguished by its intensive and residential model, and by its “combination of management perspectives, strategic thinking, and practical and theoretical approaches to the issues confronting academic institutions and their libraries.” The 2016 cohort includes senior library leaders from Washington University in St. Louis, Marquette University, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Calgary (Canada), and the University of Oxford (U.K.).
Walter has also been elected to a 3-year term (2016-2019) on the OCLC Global Council, where he will represent the Americas Regional Council (including OCLC member libraries in Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States).” DePaul is an active OCLC member, taking advantage not only of resource-sharing services through ILLiad and the OCLC Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program, but also resource discovery services such as WorldCat Local. With member libraries in over 100 countries, OCLC is “a global library cooperative that provides shared technology services, original research and community programs for its membership and the library community at large.
