The Library is excited to support the Center for Identity, Inclusion and Social Change‘s events for 2016-2017. The theme for the year is “Envisioning a New Beginning,” with a focus in the Fall specifically on the concept of Identity.
On Monday, November 1st, there will be two events with Chris Crass, a longtime community organizer for social justice causes:
Towards Collective Liberation: Anti-Racist Organizing, Feminist Praxis and Movement Building Strategy 11:20 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.
Courage Against Racism: Organizing in White Communities for Racial Justice in the Times of Black Lives Matter 6 to 7:30 p.m.
These events will both take place in the Lincoln Park Student Center, Room 120A/B.
Anyone interested in these events may wish to check out Chris Crass’s writing. The library owns a copy of one of his recent books, Towards collective liberation: anti-racist organizing, feminist praxis, and movement building strategy, and also two books containing essays by him: Globalize liberation : how to uproot the system and build a better world with his essay, “Civil rights: Looking to the light of freedom: Lessons from the Civil Rights Movement and thoughts on anarchist organizing,” and Men speak out : views on gender, sex and power with his essay, “How can I be sexist? I’m an anarchist!”
