The DePaul University Library is running a 30-day trial of a new database product called Statista. Statista is a statistics portal and contains information on over 80,000 topics compiled from more than 18,000 data sources.
From the Statista website:
Our data sources include market research reports, such as the Ipsos Affluent Survey published annually by Ipsos Media, Simmons National Consumer Studies and Consumer Insights from Scarborough Research, as well as trade publications, scientific journals, and government databases.
Examples of statistics and visualizations that Statista has available include:
- Number of monthly active Facebook users worldwide as of 3rd quarter 2017 (in millions)
- Forecast of the number of smartphone users in India from 2015 to 2022 (in millions)
- Leading ad supported broadcast and cable networks in the United States in 2017, by average number of viewers
- Avocado production worldwide from 2000 to 2014 (in million metric tons)
This trial will be active from January 16, 2018 – February 18, 2018 and can be accessed through the DePaul University Library both directly from https://ezproxy.depaul.edu/login?url=https://www.statista.com and also from the A-Z database list on the right-hand side. After you take some time to explore the site, please take a few moments to complete our Trial Feedback Form so that we can assess how useful this tool might be to the DePaul University community.
