We’re excited to introduce the newest members of the Library team. Please join us in welcoming our new staff to DePaul University.
Audra Deemer has joined the library as our Acquisitions and E-Resources Librarian. She previously worked as a Development Administrator at Innogy Renewables US and as a Liaison and Acquisitions Librarian/Acquisitions and Technical Services Librarian at the Art Institutes in Pittsburgh. In her new position, Audra will be responsible for managing acquisition of print and electronic resources for the library collection, as well as for access to digital content licensed from publishers and other vendors.
Audra recently moved to Chicago from Pittsburgh with her two dogs, Mona, a beabull (half beagle, half English bulldog) and Margot, a pug/jack russell terrier mix. One of her hobbies is baking and includes a lot of cookie decorating. She also does cross stitch and designs her own patterns. One of Audra’s all-time favorite writers is Octavia Butler and had a chance to meet her in Chicago when she gave a lecture at the Harold Washington Library in 2005.
Before coming to DePaul to accept the position of Evening Circulation Supervisor, Mark Jemerson was Teen Services Librarian at Grand Rapids Public Library in Michigan. He received his Master of Library Information Science (MLIS) from Simmons College in Boston in 2016.
Mark lives with two cats named Starbuck and Shepard, and his partner, Greg, who is the wine director at a new restaurant called Woodwind. The four spend their time watching tv, trying to cook international cuisine, and tending to their houseplants. Some pop culture favorites of Mark’s are Steven Universe, Star Trek, and Welcome to Night Vale. A trivia fact about him is that if he can find a book on audio he prefers to listen to rather than read it.
Kyle Scheuring has joined the library as the new Collections Assistant. Kyle previously worked at the Cudahy Library at Loyola University as the Library Stacks and Storage Facility Assistant while also working on a BA in English Literature, with minors in Arabic Language and Studio Art. He’s had several internships including working at Chicago Agent Magazine as an editorial intern, at BigFish Publications as a writer and copy editor intern, and at the Modernist Journals Project to digitally catalog a literary magazine called The Dilettante. He also found time to serve as president of the Literary and Arts magazine called Diminuendo while attending Loyola.
You may have seen Kyle around campus. He is currently a graduate student in the Department of Modern Languages working towards an MA in Arabic Language. Kyle’s favorite poet is Geoffrey Chaucer and likes reading his “dream vision” poems in Middle English. On weekends he is normally downtown record shopping and preparing for his weekly radio show, Keepin’ It Together, which airs on 88.7 FM WLUW every Sunday at 6:00pm.
Our thanks to all of the staff members who contributed to these successful searches over the past several months.
