Happy New Year! We hope you’re having a great Winter Quarter. If you have any research questions or reference needs, feel free to reach out to us via our online Ask-a-Librarian chat service or stop by our Research Help Desk.
As you navigate this quarter, make sure to take advantage of all the resources the library has to offer. Here are a few favorites you may want to try this year:
You can book one-on-one, in-depth research consultations with a librarian.
Our Research Guides offer subject-specific databases to check out when conducting your research.
We offer online access to many newspapers from around the world.
Solo booths and group study rooms can be reserved here.
If you’re ready to relax this weekend, we have popular fiction and nonfiction books available for checkout from our Unwind the Mind collection. You can borrow video games and consoles, too!
If you can’t find the book you are looking for, check out I-Share, our consortium of 88 other libraries in the state of Illinois.
And of course, our popular chat service is available until 10pm most nights.
Not sure how we can help? Here are some examples of recent questions we answered on chat:
- I am looking for guidance on how to write a business plan
- Do we have access to the New York Times?
- How does I-Share work?
- How do you reserve a room for group study?
- I need help with my research paper on social media and mental health. Where do I start?
- Can alumni borrow books?
An example of a recent chat looks something like this:
Patron: Hello!
Librarian: Hi there! How can I help you?
Patron: I was wondering if you could direct me to the section in the library where I can find pathology related books.
Librarian: Sure! One moment and I will check the catalog
Patron: Ok, thank you!
Librarian: There seem to be several books available online, which you can find on our library catalog here.
Patron: Thank you so much, but I was hoping to find some physical copies of the books.
Librarian: Yes! On the left hand side of the page, you can narrow your results down and pick a library location to check. I can run a search for you!
Patron: Ok
Librarian: Here is a search for physical books on pathology that DePaul owns. You can find them here.
Patron: Thank you!
Librarian: There seem to be a lot more books on pathology at the Richardson library than the Loop, but if you see a book you are interested in, you can request to pick it up at either location.
Patron: Great, this was very helpful!
Librarian: Feel free to chat us again if you have any other questions!
Patron: Thank you!
