Spotlight on Black Authors in DePaul’s Fiction Collection

So often, we get caught up in stories we read and forget to learn about the creators behind them. We neglect to acknowledge their unique human experiences and the effort behind their achievements. Therefore, in celebration of Black History Month, we invite you to take a few minutes to learn about nine critically-acclaimed, award-winning Black authors: Gayl Jones, Brendan Slocumb, Tara M. Stringfellow, Akwaeke Emezi, Rivers Solomon, Amber McBride, John Jennings, Jamila Rowser, and N. K. Jemisin.

As you navigate through the slides, you can click on the book covers to see if they are available to check out. Clicking on the authors’ headshots will bring you to their websites to learn more about them.

If you enjoy these stories, you can find even more by browsing our African American Voices Collection and Voices of the African Diaspora Collection.
