Look What’s New at the Loop Library

This summer, our Loop-based library staff undertook several projects to update the library and make improvements to the space. Stop by the Loop Library to check out new manga titles, browse the video game collection in its new location, meet up with a group in the expanded collaboration area, or use one of three Solo Booths. A special shoutout goes to Loop Facility Operations staff who removed and relocated shelving, installed signage, patched and painted. Read on for details and visit us soon on the 10th floor of the DePaul Center (1 East Jackson Blvd).

Reconfigured Front Area & Featured Collections

The area just beyond the circulation desk has been reconfigured to offer a more welcoming space and easy access to several media collections including Unwind the Mind (our popular reading collection), Faculty Publications, Newspapers & Current Magazines, and Graphic Novels (with over 70 new manga titles). We have also relocated our Blu-ray and DVD collection on shelves across from the video games for easier browsing. Please come and browse these collections and share with staff any thoughts or suggestions for future changes or additions.

Expanded Collaborative Area

Several rows of shelving have been shifted and relocated to expand the collaborative study area of the library. Key reference works are still located against the wall nearby while allowing for collaborative worktables to be spread across the entire space.

Solo Booths

One additional Solo Booth was added for a total of three. Ideal for individual study, phone calls, Zoom meetings, or quiet contemplation, all these booths can be reserved on the library website.

We thank you for visiting the Loop library and ask you to come check out the new collections we have to offer and the new look of the space. Feel free to ask any librarian or staff member if you have further questions. We can’t wait to see you! For more information about our Loop Library location, check out our website.
