DePaul University Library’s Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service allows students, faculty, and staff to borrow materials not available in our collection from other libraries worldwide at no cost. (Need a book or other physical media? Check to see if it is available from one of our partner libraries in I-Share first.)
We’re starting off the Winter Quarter with some exciting improvements to the ILL user experience.
- New, seamless log-in experience
ILL now uses your DePaul BlueKey credentials for authentication. You’ll no longer need to remember a separate username or password… account lock outs and password resets are a thing of the past.
- Updated, modern user interface
Next time you log-in to ILL, you’ll notice a refreshed look and feel. You’ll be able to see the status of your current requests directly from the home page and take advantage of an intuitive interface for placing new requests or viewing your request history.
- LibrarySearch integration
If you find a record for a book or article in LibrarySearch using the Find an Item tool or “Find Full-Text @ DePaul” button, you can submit your ILL request in seconds. Simply follow the prompt to log-in with your DePaul credentials, click on the “Request via Interlibrary Loan” button, and Submit your request.
- Reduced turnaround time for requests
Library staff are working behind the scenes to improve the ILL experience and reduce turnaround times across the board. We have implemented a series of automations that work around the clock to fill simple requests quickly and free up our staff to help you track down hard to find resources held by only a handful of research libraries. We are also diligently filling requests for our material from other libraries, allowing us to benefit from reciprocal express lending guarantees from other institutions and reduce costs to the University.
