The Library’s Got Game!

In response to the volatile and expanding gaming industry, DePaul Library staff are excited to announce the official opening of the Game Room at the John T. Richardson Library; a brand-new lab space available to the DePaul community.

Based on feedback and the popularity of our video game collection, we set up the Game Room as a space to play nearly any game in the library collection, including a few classics that aren’t available anywhere else on campus. We have created this dedicated gaming space to allow casual, competitive, or any kind of play in between!

Featuring two copies of each major contemporary console, users can play how they choose on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch. With full access to the library catalog, users can take advantage of the Game Room to socialize, research, and relax. Browse games available at the Richardson Library to find what you’re looking to play, check it out at the Access Services desk, and bring it up to the second floor Game Room to jump right into the game. We also have a handful of select games available for in-room use only, stop by to check out what is available.

The Game Room is currently open on Thursdays and Fridays from 1 PM – 5 PM every week; and as usage of this space increases, we will host even more events, activities, and other special occasions moving forward! And for all the retro-gamers in our community, we have a few other classic offerings that we plan to expand to in future events in the space. Stay tuned for more information coming soon and we can’t wait to see you!
