{"id":10211,"date":"2021-03-09T08:00:57","date_gmt":"2021-03-09T14:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/?p=10211"},"modified":"2021-03-05T17:10:25","modified_gmt":"2021-03-05T23:10:25","slug":"the-library-research-prize-is-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/2021\/03\/09\/the-library-research-prize-is-back\/","title":{"rendered":"The Library Research Prize is Back!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The DePaul University Library is now accepting applications for the 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/services\/resources-for\/current-students\/library-research-prize\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Library Research Prize<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In partnership with the<a href=\"http:\/\/las.depaul.edu\/academics\/writing-rhetoric-and-discourse\/undergraduate\/first-year-writing\/Pages\/writing-showcase.aspx\"> First-Year Program Writing Showcase<\/a>, the DePaul University Library offers its Library Research Prize to honor First-Year Program authors whose research essays best exemplify the application of library research skills. <a href=\"http:\/\/condor.depaul.edu\/writing\/programs-workshops-fyp-writing-showcase.html\">Submit your research essay<\/a>, accompanied by your<a href=\"https:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/services\/resources-for\/current-students\/library-research-prize\/Pages\/Research-Statement-Guideslines.aspx\"> research statement<\/a>,<b> by April 2, 2021.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Cur<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/Library-Research-Prize_2021final.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10212 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/Library-Research-Prize_2021final.png?resize=292%2C283&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"283\" \/><\/a>rent DePaul students may enter any researched essay produced in a<a href=\"https:\/\/academics.depaul.edu\/liberal-studies\/first-year-program\/Pages\/default.aspx\"> First-Year Program course<\/a> taken between spring quarter 2019 and winter quarter 2021. Eligible classes include: Chicago Quarter, Focal Point Seminars, Quantitative Reasoning &amp; Technical Literacy, or First-Year Writing courses. Library Research Prize entrants will also need to submit a \u2018Research Statement\u2019 \u2014 a\u00a0 500-1000 word reflection detailing how they conducted their research and what they learned from the process.<\/p>\n<p>A certificate and $50.00 prize will be awarded to up to three applicants whose essays and research statements best demonstrate the effective use of library information resources, the application of research skills, and evidence of decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking approaches to the research challenges they encountered.
