{"id":11097,"date":"2022-03-10T07:00:41","date_gmt":"2022-03-10T13:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/?p=11097"},"modified":"2022-03-07T15:38:15","modified_gmt":"2022-03-07T21:38:15","slug":"enter-to-win-the-library-research-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/2022\/03\/10\/enter-to-win-the-library-research-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"Enter to Win the Library Research Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The DePaul University Library is now accepting applications for the 2022 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/services\/resources-for\/current-students\/library-research-prize\/Pages\/default.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Library Research Prize<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In partnership with the<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/las.depaul.edu\/academics\/writing-rhetoric-and-discourse\/undergraduate\/first-year-writing\/Pages\/writing-showcase.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> First-Year Program Writing Showcase<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the DePaul University Library offers its Library Research Prize to honor First-Year Program authors whose research essays best exemplify the application of library research skills. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/condor.depaul.edu\/writing\/programs-workshops-fyp-writing-showcase.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submit your research essay<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, accompanied by your<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/services\/resources-for\/current-students\/library-research-prize\/Pages\/Research-Statement-Guidelines.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> research statement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><b> by April 1, 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Current DePaul students may enter any researched essay written in a<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/academics.depaul.edu\/liberal-studies\/first-year-program\/Pages\/default.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> First-Year Program course<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> taken between <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spring quarter 2021 and winter quarter 2022<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Eligible classes include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FYSW 102<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WRD 102, 102x, 103, 103x, 104, and 104x<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LSP 110, LSP 111, LSP 112, and LSP 120<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HON 100, 110, 111, and 180<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Library Research Prize entrants will also need to submit a \u2018<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/services\/resources-for\/current-students\/library-research-prize\/Pages\/Research-Statement-Guidelines.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">research statement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 \u2014 a\u00a0 500-1000 word reflection detailing how they conducted their research and what they learned from the process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A certificate and $50.00 prize will be awarded to up to three applicants whose essays and research statements best demonstrate the effective use of library information resources, the application of research skills, and evidence of decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking approaches to the research challenges they encountered.
