The DePaul University Library now has access to 200 new streaming films from Pragda with a recent 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0Edition Upgrade that will include a total of 400 additional films over the next year. Pragda Stream<\/a> is a platform for Latin American, Spanish and Latinx cinema, and their diverse catalog includes feature films, documentaries, shorts, and series from more than 30 countries, all in their original languages with English subtitles.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This newest upgrade features titles like A Place Called Music\/Un Lugar Llamado M\u00fasica<\/em><\/a>, a documentary about a musical collaboration between contemporary American composer Philip Glass and Mexican Wix\u00e1rika musician Daniel Medina and La Suprema<\/em><\/a>, a Columbian boxing drama set in a remote and overlooked Afro-Caribbean village whose community may be poised for glory. An educational film distributor, Pragda’s curated film collection covers current topics like the global economy, immigration and exile, feminism and gender issues, indigenous peoples, and international politics. Los Lobos<\/em><\/a>, for example, is an autobiographical drama about migrant life in the US through the eyes of two young brothers, while Luchadoras<\/a><\/em>\u00a0examines gender norms in Mexico through the lives of three female wrestlers and Money Exchange\/Cambio, cambio<\/a><\/em>\u00a0is an economic thriller about young protagonists trying to make a life in the midst of Argentina’s spiraling inflation.<\/p>\n

Pragda also spotlights monthly collections of films around timely themes, such as In the News: Brazil’s Political Landscape<\/a>\u00a0and Labor Lens: Work and Society<\/a>.<\/p>\n
