Mellon Foundation, the Information Fluency in the Disciplines workshops provide support for faculty and librarians at member institutions seeking to build on successful integration of information literacy instruction in general education programs to establish new learning goals for information literacy in courses in the humanities majors. DePaul is one of approximately 20 institutions selected for participation in this year\u2019s workshop on Information Fluency in English and American Language and Literature.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/about\/contact-us\/staff-directory\/Pages\/jessica-alverson.aspx\">Jessica Alverson<\/a>, Assistant Coordinator for Instruction and Liaison to the Departments of English and Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse, will join faculty members from the Department of English to use this opportunity to build on our recent success in establishing <a href=\"http:\/\/condor.depaul.edu\/tla\/Learning\/learning_outcomes_unit.html\">undergraduate learning goals for information literacy<\/a> and revising the information literacy instruction provided through the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.library.depaul.press\/faculty\/2015\/10\/05\/what-can-i-expect-my-students-to-know-first-year-library-instruction\/\">WRD 104\/HON 100<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cic.edu\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Council of Independent Colleges<\/a> is \u201can association of nonprofit independent colleges and universities that has worked since 1956 to support college and university leadership; advance institutional excellence; and enhance public understanding of private higher education\u2019s contributions to society.\u201d For more information on the DePaul University Library\u2019s instructional program, or to schedule an instruction session for your class, see <a href=\"http:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/services\/library-instruction\/Pages\/default.aspx\">http:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/services\/library-instruction\/Pages\/default.aspx<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A team of DePaul University faculty and librarians has been invited to participate in an upcoming \u201cInformation Fluency in the Disciplines\u201d workshop being sponsored this Spring by the Council of Independent Colleges.
