Start with a search for key terms:\u00a0&#8220;nonprofit organizations&#8221; AND employees AND\u00a0retention in <a href=\"http:\/\/ezproxy.depaul.edu\/login?url=http:\/\/search.ebscohost.com\/login.aspx?direct=true&amp;db=bth&amp;bquery=%26quot%3bnonprofit+organizations%26quot%3b+AND+employees+AND+retention&amp;type=1&amp;site=ehost-live&amp;scope=site\" target=\"_blank\">Business Source Complete<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Skimming the results from the basic strategy outlined above, you&#8217;ll see other\u00a0words to consider such as: turnover&#8230;morale&#8230;motivation&#8230;job satisfaction. Add\u00a0these words to your search for retention with &#8220;OR&#8221;: retention OR\u00a0turnover OR\u00a0morale OR\u00a0motivation OR\u00a0&#8220;job satisfaction&#8221;. Use\u00a0quotes to force the database to keep those words together.<\/p>\n<p>Always look at the subject terms for words that seem relevant in order to uncover other useful vocabulary. In addition to nonprofit organizations, add &#8220;social advocacy&#8221; to the first line along with &#8220;nonprofit organizations&#8221;. You also stated an interest in &#8220;community based&#8221; employees, so add that phrase to the mix, too: \u00a0&#8220;nonprofit organizations&#8221; OR\u00a0&#8220;social advocacy&#8221; OR\u00a0&#8220;community based&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>With this bit of back and forth, you end up with <a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/jcwnjrh\" target=\"_blank\">200+ citations<\/a> to peruse.
