There have been lots of interesting topics to come our way at the Research Help Desks, including questions about:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"unitRight\"><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan<\/li>\n<li>Ancestor Worship<\/li>\n<li>Witold Lutos\u0142awski<\/li>\n<li>Air pollution in China<\/li>\n<li>Effect of faith on presidential foreign policy<\/li>\n<li>Experimental films of Kenneth Anger<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And, some other conversations we\u2019ve had via IM, in person, email, or on the phone:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"unit\"><\/figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-705\" title=\"Creativity Research Journal\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/02\/creativityresearch.jpeg?resize=200%2C256\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"256\" \/>A student was trying to identify the components of a creative process and then explain how it affects one&#8217;s perception of the world. \u00a0The librarian found the\u00a0Creativity Research Journal, and used that as a starting point. They then\u00a0searched for some general information about creativity in both Grove Art Online and Credo Reference. \u00a0For more scholarly information, they explored the databases Art Full Text and Humanities Abstracts. \u00a0If the student was still in need of more information, the librarian suggested searching for biographical information on a famous artist, which should include descriptions of that artist&#8217;s creative process.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"unitRight size1of4\"><\/figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-707\" title=\"gold\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/02\/gold.jpeg?resize=200%2C133\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" \/>A researcher was looking for statistical information on various &#8220;looting&#8221; activities related to antiquities. The librarian looked at several resources, and found the best information was offered by Unesco. \u00a0Searching with terms like &#8220;world heritage&#8221; and &#8220;looting&#8221; produced good results. The librarian also recommended checking websites of museums of antiquities, which often keep records of such thefts; for example, the Oriental Institute in Chicago has records of looting in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>A student was writing a paper about the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig, and how an orchestra affects the people and the culture of a city. \u00a0The student was specifically in need of primary sources. \u00a0The librarian helped the student explore sound recordings, our historic newspaper databases including\u00a0The New York Times\u00a0and\u00a0The Times\u00a0of London, \u00a0contemporary newspapers through our database Access World News, as well as useful books and memoirs. \u00a0Through these searches, they were able to find quotations from the Gewandhaus conductor about national funding for the orchestra and its importance to the musical life of cities.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s all for now\u2026..As always, thank you for reading This Week in Reference!<\/p>\n<p><em>This Week in Reference: Feb 16-21, 2014<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to This Week in Reference!
