The DePaul University Library is pleased to\u00a0support a\u00a0DePaul Humanities Center<\/a> collaboration with\u00a0Theatre Y<\/a>\u00a0on their\u00a0new\u00a0production of the\u00a0Glen Berger\u00a0play,\u00a0Underneath the Lintel: An Impressive Presentation of Lonely Evidences<\/em>. Underneath the Lintel\u00a0<\/em>tells the story of a Dutch librarian on an obsessive\u00a0quest to find the identity of a man who\u00a0returned a library book now\u00a0113 years overdue. The librarian\u00a0recounts revelations made along the journey as he\u00a0presents the audience with each artifact collected throughout his quest. As the librarian\u00a0pieces together the puzzle, he becomes convinced he is tracking none-other than the\u00a0mythical wandering Jew, who once turned away Jesus while standing in his own doorway (underneath the lintel).<\/p>\n

The play has been produced numerous times since its\u00a0first performance\u00a0in 1999 at the Yale Summer Cabaret but\u00a0Theatre\u00a0Y’s\u00a0production takes a more\u00a0unconventional\u00a0approach by performing the\u00a0play in DePaul’s John T.
