Richardson Library.<\/p>\n<p>A Menger Sponge is a <a href=\"http:\/\/mathworld.wolfram.com\/Fractal.html\" target=\"_blank\">fractal<\/a> named after mathematician <a href=\"https:\/\/science.iit.edu\/applied-mathematics\/about\/about-karl-menger\" target=\"_blank\">Karl Menger<\/a>, a long-time faculty member at the Illinois Institute of Technology, that is distinguished by having \u201czero volume and infinite surface area.\u201d The DePaul Mathematics Club will be constructing a large-scale model of the Sponge using ordinary business cards held together with a simple origami fold. When complete, the sculpture will have used about 35,000 business cards.
