If so, get prepared to apply for the new First-Year Program Library Research Prize!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/01\/Library-Research-Prize_blocks3_caps.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4783 \" title=\"2017 Library Research Prize\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/01\/Library-Research-Prize_blocks3_caps.png?resize=241%2C191&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"241\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a>The DePaul University Library will be offering the new<a href=\"http:\/\/go.depaul.edu\/libraryresearchprize\"> Library Research Prize<\/a>\u00a0in conjunction with\u2014and in addition to\u2014the existing <a href=\"https:\/\/las.depaul.edu\/academics\/writing-rhetoric-and-discourse\/undergraduate\/first-year-writing\/Pages\/writing-showcase.aspx\">First-Year Program Writing Showcase<\/a> from DePaul\u2019s College of Liberal Arts &amp; Social Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Current DePaul students will be able to enter any researched essay produced in a <a href=\"https:\/\/academics.depaul.edu\/liberal-studies\/first-year-program\/Pages\/default.aspx\">First-Year Program <\/a>course:\u00a0 Chicago Quarter, Focal Point Seminars, Quantitative Reasoning &amp; Technical Literacy, or First-Year Writing courses. Library Research Prize entrants will also need to submit a \u2018Research Statement\u2019\u2014a one-page reflection detailing how they conducted their research and what they learned from the process.<\/p>\n<p>A $50.00 gift card and certificate will be awarded to up to three entrants whose essays and Research Statements best demonstrate the effective use of library information resources, the application of research skills, and evidence of decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking approaches to the research challenges they encountered.<\/p>\n<p>Further details will follow in February, so visit <a href=\"http:\/\/go.depaul.edu\/libraryresearchprize\">go.depaul.edu\/libraryresearchprize<\/a> to learn more about how to enter, and what you\u2019ll need to do to have a good chance of winning the new Library Research Prize!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you a first-year student and want to show off your research skills?
