Richardson Library <a href=\"http:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/get-help\/Pages\/learning-commons.aspx\">Learning Commons<\/a>, launched in fall 2013, has become the center for library partnerships with academic programs delivering peer tutoring and support for student success at DePaul, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/resources.depaul.edu\/student-success\/tutoring\/Pages\/university-center-writing-learning.aspx\">University Center for Writing-based Learning<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/csh.depaul.edu\/student-resources\/Pages\/science-and-math-learning-center.aspx\">Science and Math Learning Center<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/resources.depaul.edu\/supplemental-instruction\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Supplemental Instruction<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/careercenter.depaul.edu\/\">Career Center<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/offices.depaul.edu\/student-affairs\/about\/departments\/Pages\/omss.aspx\">Office of Multicultural Student Success<\/a>, and programs sponsored by the College of Education, College of Computing and Digital Media, and others.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/02\/Coleman-photoalt.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5047 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/02\/Coleman-photoalt.jpg?resize=300%2C225&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/02\/Coleman-photoalt.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/02\/Coleman-photoalt.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/02\/Coleman-photoalt.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/02\/Coleman-photoalt.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/news.library.depaul.press\/full-text\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/02\/Coleman-photoalt.jpg?w=1920&amp;ssl=1 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Beginning this quarter, we have established a new partnership with the <a href=\"http:\/\/business.depaul.edu\/about\/centers-institutes\/coleman-entrepreneurship-center\/pages\/default.aspx\">Coleman Entrepreneurship Center<\/a> (CEC) to provide &#8220;startup advising,&#8221; allowing students to discuss to their business ideas, go over projects from \u00a0entrepreneurship courses, or talk generally about the academic and experiential sides of entrepreneurship.\u00a0 According to Abigail Ingram, Assistant Director of the CEC,\u00a0 &#8220;Polls continue to show that 60-70% of students currently in college will end up starting a business, freelancing, or otherwise working for themselves during their careers.&#8221; Entrepreneurship initiatives at DePaul aim to help prepare students for their future work.\u00a0 \u201cWith regularly scheduled workshops, experienced mentors and access to events across the city, we provide all the necessary tools for a student to turn a business idea into a reality,&#8221; explains CEC startup advisor <a href=\"http:\/\/colemanent.org\/startup-intern-keyante-aytch\/\">Keyante Aytch<\/a>, who is also an entrepreneur himself.\u00a0 Keyante\u2019s startup, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/3DimeDesigns\/\">3Dime Designs<\/a>, creates \u201cdress wear pieces for personality.\u201d\u00a0 Please visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/get-help\/Pages\/learning-commons.aspx\">Learning Commons<\/a> page to see the current schedule for startup advising.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to this ongoing collaboration in the Learning Commons, library staff and CEC staff are also engaged in thinking about how entrepreneurship programs at DePaul, <a href=\"http:\/\/colemanent.org\/events-programs\/depaul-at-1871\/\">1871, <\/a>and other incubators may become part of the programming provided in the maker space and in other areas currently planned for the next phase of the Richardson Library renovation later this year.<\/p>\n<p>If you have questions about Learning Commons programs and partnerships, please contact <a href=\"http:\/\/library.depaul.edu\/about\/contact-us\/staff-directory\/Pages\/krystal-lewis.aspx\">Krystal Lewis<\/a>, Information Commons Librarian.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The John T.
