Did you know the DePaul University Library employs over 50 students? Our student workers play a critical role\u00a0in providing services in all areas of the Library. At the Access Services desks, students\u00a0check out materials to patrons, pull course reserves and re-shelve books. Behind the scenes in Technical Services, students prepare\u00a0new\u00a0materials for use after they arrive and are cataloged. \u00a0Peer Research Tutors answer questions at the Research Help Desks. In Special Collections and Archives, students process archival collections and assist researchers in the reading room. Students also help maintain our online presence, keep the Learning Commons running, and carry out various other projects.<\/p>\n

We are grateful to have such a smart and industrious group working in the library. \u00a0In exchange, our student employees\u00a0have the opportunity to develop customer services skills, learn how to use library resources, and work on creative projects like designing parts of our website and marketing materials for the Library. \u00a0And, if we can inspire a love of libraries and service to our users, we know we\u2019ve done our job. \u00a0(In fact, we\u2019ve had a number of student workers who have later worked in the library after graduating, and several have even pursued librarianship as a career!) \u00a0Join us in celebrating National Student Employment Week<\/a>\u00a0and stop by the Loop Library or John T.
