DePaul University Library\u2019s Special Collections and Archives<\/a> is pleased to announce the release of our Dead Man Walking Teaching Kit<\/a>.\u00a0 The kit is designed for middle and high school educators who incorporate Sr. Helen Prejean\u2019s book,\u00a0 Dead Man Walking <\/em><\/a>or Tim Robbin\u2019s play\u00a0<\/em>of the same title into their curriculum.\u00a0 Twenty primary sources were selected from Sr. Helen Prejean\u2019s archives collection<\/a> to complement the experience for those reading or performing Dead Man Walking<\/em>.\u00a0 The teaching kit also includes discussion questions, short biographies of the people who created the primary sources, and links to additional resources.\u00a0 The project was developed in collaboration with David Bates and John Gieger of the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Program<\/a> in DePaul’s College of Education<\/a>.\u00a0 We debuted the teaching kit during Sr. Helen\u2019s recent visit to DePaul University on April 21, which coincided with her birthday, and she exclaimed after seeing it, that it was a \u201cwonderful present!\u201d<\/p>\n
