Representatives from DePaul Special Collections and Archives recently attended Chicago Zine Fest<\/a> (CZF) and the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo<\/a> (C2E2). This year marks the first time that DePaul SPCA has participated in either gathering. These events ultimately provided the department opportunities for outreach, engagement, and professional development.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, May 6, DePaul SPCA staff members Lisa Geiger and Derek Potts participated as exhibitors at the Chicago Zine Fest. Festivalgoers visiting the department\u2019s table were able to explore the finding aids for SPCA\u2019s numerous zine collections, peruse examples of Anthony Rayson\u2019s prison zines, and chat with Lisa and Derek about topics related to zines, collecting, libraries, and social justice. Many new relationships were formed with CZF\u2019s exhibiting artists and attendees alike!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Earlier in April, Derek also attended the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo at McCormick Place. While at C2E2, Derek was able to examine different formats of art and literature that may be of interest to both students and researchers. Many artists expressed appreciation that their work was being considered for its enduring value. Outside of the networking opportunities at Artist Alley and the Show Floor, C2E2\u2019s panel sessions also offered inspiring pedagogical strategies for engaging students with graphic materials.<\/p>\n

DePaul Special Collections and Archives looks forward to participating in these and other events in the future.<\/p>\n
