Chicago is proud to be hosting the annual meeting<\/a> of the Midwest Archives Conference<\/a> (MAC) March 21st through 24th. DePaul\u2019s own Andrea Bainbridge and Morgen MacIntosh Hodgetts assisted in bringing the meeting to Chicago this year and served on the Local Arrangements Committee. Staff from Special Collections and Archives (SPCA) are taking advantage of the meeting\u2019s location in Chicago and are excited to attend the plenary session featuring WBEZ reporter Natalie Moore, as well as sessions on community archives and representation, teaching with primary sources, institutional memory, and real world digital preservation.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>We will be adjusting our open hours so that as many SPCA staff as possible can take advantage of this opportunity to learn from and share our experiences with professional colleagues. Our reading room will close early<\/strong> on Thursday, March 22nd and will be closed<\/strong> all day on Friday, March 23rd.<\/p>\n

The Midwest Archives Conference (MAC) is one of the largest regional professional organizations for archivists, with over 800 individual members, and many institutional members, from a 13 state region (though there are members from many other states and countries). MAC conferences are known for their collegial and supportive atmosphere, and for their commitment to helping members grow and learn in the profession, whether they hail from small volunteer-run historical societies or large R1 universities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
