In honor of National Poetry Month Patricia Chavez<\/a> and Nora Gabor<\/a> will take you on a tour of our collections through poetry.<\/em><\/p>\n

Paradise Lost by John Milton, 1885<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

You can find poetry in all corners of Special Collections and Archives, both in the expected literature sections and in more surprising places. In our stacks you can find multiple editions of Milton\u2019s Paradise Lost<\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>works by Langston Hughes<\/a>, Poetry of the Year<\/a>, <\/em>T.S. Eliot<\/a>, Phillis Wheatley<\/a>, and many other poetry collections of poets both well-known and more obscure, modern and ancient. Two of our surprising poetry finds include\u00a0The Collected Poetry of Abraham Lincoln<\/a>, <\/em>and the poem Bomb<\/em><\/a> by Gregory Corso, which takes the form of an artists\u2019 book. Our\u00a0 Arnold and Jane Grisham Collection includes poetry by prominent African American authors like Paul Laurence Dunbar<\/a> and Rita Dove<\/a>. Our community archives contain both the papers and the library of the Berrigan<\/a> family. Within these collections you can find the poetry of Daniel Berrigan<\/a>, a social activist and Jesuit priest. Collections that have long been at DePaul like the Irish and Napoleon collections also contain poetry like Creatures<\/em><\/a> by Padraic Colum and Poetry of the Anti-Jacobin <\/em><\/a>, respectively. One of the most surprising finds was volume twenty-eight of the periodical The Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes<\/em>, titled The<\/em> Poetry of Sport <\/em><\/a>. This is a collection of poetry that in some way relates to sporting and hunting and can be found, fittingly, in our Stuyvesant Peabody Sports Collection.<\/p>\n
