DePaul University Library is pleased to welcome our new University Archivist, Brittan Nannenga. Brittan is settling into her new role in Special Collections and Archives<\/a>, where she is responsible for managing an active University Archives program. She will be working closely with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to identify and acquire materials that document DePaul\u2019s history, ensuring that those historical records are collected, preserved, and shared for generations to come.<\/p>\n

Brittan Nannenga, University Archivist<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Brittan comes to DePaul with a range of experience working in university archives and special collections at other Chicago area institutions, including Northwestern University Archives and the Special Collections Research Center at the University of Chicago. She graduated from DePauw University with a BA in Art History and a minor in Studio Art. She also holds an MA in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Illinois Chicago, and she is currently pursuing an MS\/LIS from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.<\/p>\n

As University Archivist, Brittan is looking forward to collaborating with departments across campus to advocate for the importance of historical records, provide education on identifying and transferring those records, and creating new opportunities for students, faculty, and the community to access and engage with the archives. One of her initial efforts will be surveying existing collections to determine what stories or voices might have been missed and then work on filling in any of those historical gaps. She will also be updating the University Archives transfer process, as well as some outreach initiatives and trainings\u2014so look for those soon.<\/p>\n
