As we settle into the fall quarter, the library would like to share some new and updated resources added in September. We\u2019d also like to announce the removal of one of our databases and the forthcoming addition of another. Let\u2019s get into the details!<\/span><\/p>\n

New Resources<\/span><\/h3>\n

American Film Scripts Online, Vol. 1<\/span><\/a> gives \"American<\/a>patrons access to over 1,100 film scripts as well as supplemental information on scenes, characters, and people in the film. In addition, this resource contains more than 500 facsimile images of these screenplays.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>ASTM Standards and Engineering Digital Library<\/span><\/a> provides full-text access to a vast collection of industry-leading standards and technical engineering information. This resource covers a broad range of engineering topics such as aerospace, biomedical, civil, environmental, health and safety, industrial, mechanical, nuclear, and many more. This resource along with other engineering resources can now be found by sorting our <\/span>A-Z Databases & Resources<\/span><\/a> page by the \u201cEngineering\u201d subject field.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Digital National Security Archive<\/span><\/a> allows access to significant primary documents central to U.S. foreign and military policy since 1945. Divided into core collections, this archive contains a diverse selection of documents such as presidential directives, memos, meeting notes, independent reports, briefing papers, emails and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

Screen Studies<\/span><\/a> provides cross-searchable access to a collection of screenplays and books on film, film genres, filmmakers, and filming techniques supplemented by an interactive timeline of cinema history.<\/span><\/p>\n

Updated Resources\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

The library staff is always looking for ways to expand access to the resources you love, in September we have expanded our coverage of the <\/span>Chicago Tribune<\/span><\/a> so you can now view historical issues all the way up to 2010. <\/span>Drama Online<\/span><\/a> has also been updated with new content, and more updates for this resource are planned for December 2020 or January 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

Removed Resource and Forthcoming Addition<\/span><\/h3>\n

Statista is no longer available in our catalog as of Sept. 8, 2020, see alternative resources on our <\/span>Statistics and Data libguide<\/span><\/a>. Due to consistent price increases from vendors across the board and limited e-resources budgets, libraries regularly review subscriptions based on criteria such as cost, usage, content overlap, and accessibility. Decisions like this allow us to maintain high-demand subscriptions and explore new resources.<\/span><\/p>\n

But as the quarter continues, library patrons can look forward to accessing the full version of Faculty Select, an interface that allows for faculty to search and access Open Educational Resources (OER), open textbooks, and discover unrestricted e-books from top academic publishers.
