Are you a first-year student and want to show off your research skills? If so, you should apply for the First-Year Writing Program Library Research Prize!
The DePaul University Library is offering the Library Research Prize in conjunction with—and in addition to—the existing First-Year Program Writing Showcase from DePaul’s College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences.
Current DePaul students may enter any researched essay produced in a First-Year Program course during Spring Quarter 2018, Autumn Quarter 2018, or Winter Quarter 2019. Eligible classes include: Chicago Quarter, Focal Point Seminars, Quantitative Reasoning & Technical Literacy, or First-Year Writing courses. Library Research Prize entrants will also need to submit a ‘Research Statement’—a one-page reflection detailing how you conducted your research and what you learned from the process.
A certificate and $50.00 prize will be awarded to up to three entrants whose essays and Research Statements best demonstrate the effective use of library information resources, the application of research skills, and evidence of decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking approaches to encountered research challenges. Winners will also be invited to display their work at the First-Year Program Writing Showcase on May 22nd at Cortelyou Commons.
The deadline for entry is April 5, 2019.
