It’s hard to believe we are at the midpoint of the spring quarter. As we get closer to the end of the 2020-2021 academic year, the DePaul University Library would like to provide you with a few new updates or changes to your library services.
Email notices for overdue library materials resume:
At the onset of state and city stay-at-home orders to address the COVID-19 threat, DePaul University Library (along with other libraries across the country) suspended overdue fines and related system generated email notifications. The purpose of suspending overdue fees and their related notices was to ease the burden on our communities as we abruptly shifted to remote access models for library materials, resources, and services. Now that the city’s phased reopening plan moves to a stage that begins to reduce restrictions, the library has reinstated email notifications for overdue library materials. Patrons will be expected to renew or return library materials promptly going forward.
Fixed due date of 6/30/21 for 28 day circulating materials through spring quarter:
A fixed due date of 6/30/2021 is automatically being applied to all 28 day circulating library materials borrowed from the DPU library through the end of the spring quarter. This extends the loan period to cover beyond May and June commencements to allow students — especially graduates time to return library materials shortly after classes end. Please note that the fixed due date applies to materials owned by the DePaul University Library. Items borrowed from I-Share institutions, will continue to circulate for 28 days.
Renewals have been suspended for I-Share materials borrowed before January 5th, 2021:
If you currently have I-Share materials checked out prior to 1/5/21, you will not have the ability to extend the loan period. As we and our fellow I-Share libraries prepare for a return to normal operations, the decision was made to end term loans for all I-Share consortium institutions. This means that any patron who has had library materials from an I-Share library for more than 112 days will be unable to renew these materials. You will need to return these materials to the DePaul University Library or a nearby I-Share library with community access. Library materials can be returned in person or by mail.
