Welcome back to Spring Quarter! If you’re new to DePaul or just want a refresher on our services and resources, read on for answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.
Is my textbook available at the Library?
The Library doesn’t generally purchase textbooks for courses, but we may have the book you need. First, check Course Reserves to see if your instructor placed a copy on reserves for the entire class to use. Next, check LibrarySearch to see if you can borrow the book from the DePaul Library or I-Share (our system of Illinois libraries that share books with each other). Before borrowing, keep in mind that books can be checked out for 4 weeks and can’t always be renewed if others are waiting for the same book.
Where is the Library?
The John T. Richardson Library can be found on the Lincoln Park Campus, and the Loop Library is on the 10th Floor of the DePaul Center. Locate computers, printers, and restrooms or find your new favorite place to study when you explore both libraries on a self-guided tour:

Can I reserve a study room?
Whether you’re working alone or with a group, the Library has a variety of study spaces to help you succeed. Check our Room Reservations page to see what’s open and click Reserve when you find the type of space you need, including Solo Booths, group study rooms and work tables, and media studios. Any space that’s not reserved is always available on a first-come-first-served basis, or just drop by the John T. Richardson Library or the Loop Library for your choice of comfortable seating, tables, and study carrels.
How do I find academic journals and articles for research?
The DePaul University Library subscribes to hundreds of databases, journals, and other online resources. We recommend starting on our Library Research Guides to find librarian-recommended resources for every topic. Academic Search Complete, one of our most popular article databases, is always a great starting point. But if you don’t find what you need, Ask A Librarian for other recommendations.
When is the Library open?
Check our Hours page to find the day’s current open hours for the location and services you need. After hours? Email a librarian, and we’ll get back to you the next day.
If you still have questions, we’re here to help! If you’re in the Library, stop by our service desks; you can also reach us via phone, email, text, and chat. Our friendly staff are happy to direct you to whatever you need, so don’t hesitate to ask.
