Join Us for an Open Textbook Launch Party!

You are invited to our Open Textbook Launch Party! Join the DePaul University Library as we celebrate the completion of three open textbooks by DePaul faculty and instructors. Faculty authors will introduce their new textbooks and speak about their experience developing an open textbook. Register to attend the party on Tuesday, April 7th from 4:30PM-6:30PM at the Richardson Library, Room 111.

In 2024, the DePaul University Library received a $150,000 Illinois Secretary of State/Illinois State Library OER Grant to facilitate the creation of Open Educational Resources (OER) to address textbook affordability and promote student success. Our launch party will celebrate the three open textbooks that were created:

  • Decentering Theater Histories by Coya Paz Brownrigg, Reza Mirsajadi, Emilio Williams (The Theatre School)
  • Business and Professional Communication by Kristen Pengelly (Communications Studies)
  • Back of the Yards: Histories & Contexts of a Chicago Neighborhood by Aaron Lefkovitz (History Department)

This gathering is also an opportunity to learn more about OER efforts on campus and ways to collaborate with the DePaul University Library on affordable course materials projects. Refreshments will be served following the presentation. We look forward to celebrating with you!
