Generative artificial intelligence can be exciting, intriguing, and overwhelming all at once. To support students, faculty, and staff in navigating generative AI and its role in the information landscape, the DePaul University Library is pleased to announce the Generative Artificial Intelligence Research Guide, a new resource aligned with the principles of our Values Statement.
This research guide provides guidance and considerations for using generative AI tools, from large language models like ChatGPT to research summary tools like Consensus. To promote AI literacy, there is introductory information about how these tools work and examples of appropriate use cases. The Ethical Considerations page includes summaries of issues associated with generative AI including misinformation, academic integrity, and the environment, as well as a Practical Tips page for using AI tools responsibly. The guide also includes a list of generative AI tools embedded in DePaul library resources. As generative AI continues to evolve, librarians will periodically review this guide to ensure that the content is relevant and up to date.
With this new research guide, students, faculty, and staff can become better equipped to approach generative AI with consideration and curiosity.
