Digital preservation work at DePaul University Special Collections and Archives has adjusted while working entirely remote. Changing and creating new opportunities has allowed us to reassess the direction that was initially planned for the year. The result has allowed Special Collections and Archives to create and establish new digital preservation
In part one of our exploration of digital preservation, we looked at the beginning of Special Collections and Archives’ initiatives to preserve digital media. We will now look at how this project expanded to include audio-visual tape material. Digital media and audio-visual material are frequently thought of as hand-in-hand by many.
Coinciding with the American Library Association’s Preservation Week and the Society of American Archivists’ MayDay disaster preparedness initiatives, we will explore digital preservation projects currently underway at the DePaul University Special Collections and Archives. In the first section of this two-part series, we will focus on an initiative to preserve content stored on physical materials.
