Following continued engagement with student leaders and library users, the Office of the Provost has worked with the DePaul University Library to find the resources to restore late-night service hours at the John T. Richardson Library, beginning in Winter Quarter 2018.
Late-night hours (12:00 – 2:00 am) were added to the Richardson Library schedule in 2013, following discussions between the Student Government Association, the University Library, and the Office of the Provost. Always popular with students seeking an option for quiet study away from roommates, collaborative work powered by technology, or simply the space and services needed to complete academic work on a schedule busy with classes, work, family, and co-curricular engagement, late-night hours at JTR coincided with the library renovations that gave students and faculty access to new spaces such as the Information Commons, Learning Commons, Scholar’s Lab, and, coming soon, Maker Hub and Studio 1581 digital media studios.
We in the library have been inspired by the support our students have shown for the library, and especially for all of the examples students provided of the ways in which the library plays, as SGA President Michael Lynch put it, an “integral role … in academic success.” We could not agree more, and we look forward to seeing you back in the library during the late-night hours, beginning in January.
The John T. Richardson Library will be open its normal, 24/5 service hours during Fall Finals. Please consult the Library Hours schedule for the most accurate and up-to-date information on the open hours for library spaces and services at both the Lincoln Park and Loop campuses.
thanks for all you do!!!
