At Thursday’s Academic Convocation, Librarian Alexis Burson will be honored with a Staff Quality Service Award. This award recognizes staff members whose service represents the highest standards of quality and effectiveness and is presented to individuals who have enhanced university initiatives by promoting collaboration and teamwork to support the institution’s mission.
In her role as Humanities and Social Sciences Librarian, Alexis can be found providing research help to the entire DePaul community, teaching research skills, serving as a Library Liaison to The Art School and the Department of the History of Art and Architecture, as well as designing and producing Library marketing materials and engaging with the DePaul community on social media.
In her nomination letter, Alexis was commended for collaborating with the DePaul Art Museum to create online research guides to accompany DPAM exhibits in support of student learning and engagement, as well as her work with the Chicago Collections Consortium Cooperative Reference Committee, where she teams up with other Chicago librarians and archivists to answer inquiries from researchers around the world. However, she’s especially excelled at projects designed to improve the DePaul student experience, particularly those that make the Library more accessible and approachable to our entire community. From accessible online tutorials to eye-catching signage and savvy social media communication, Alexis helps make the Library a welcoming and productive space for all!
This award reflects Alexis’s strong commitment to the Vincentian value of personalism and her work in support of the values of the DePaul University Library, including collaboration, community engagement, inclusion, and innovation.
Alexis joins other library staff who have received the Staff Quality Service Award in recent years, each in recognition of their contributions to the core missions of teaching, learning, scholarship and service.
Congratulations, Alexis! The entire Library is proud of your commitment to serving the DePaul community and earning this well-deserved honor.
